This song is dedicated to "El Barrio" (In Spanish, "the neighborhood"). The famous neighborhood of Spanish Harlem in New York City was key to the development of Latin culture in the city and has had an impact on neighborhoods throughout Latin America. When we are in El Barrio, listening to salsa with our people, we feel happy. From dark chocolate brown with dark eyes, and nappy hair, to blond and blue eyed. When I’m in El Barrio, I feel great!

I was brought here after listening to a live performance of Makaya's on you tube. I instantly loved the song Holy Lands so much that I had to see if the album version was the same rendition as the live one. Then I listened to the whole album! Universal Beings is a just a groove...
